Burnaby mayor Derek Corrigan was quoted in a B.C. newspaper this week as saying “there is now a private liquor store, 7-Eleven and a porno shop on almost every corner” in Edmonton.

Burnaby – a city of about 200,000 on the eastern edge of Vancouver – has imposed new restrictions on private liquor stores, according to the Burnaby Now newspaper.

“With great respect, I'd invite him to visit Edmonton where we'd personally host him on a tour of the city,” spokesman Lisanne Lewis said in a statement.
